Had a memorable couple days and nights in Munich, with the highlight being our day trip to

Neuschwanstein Castle, Bavarian King/queen Ludwig II's nineteenth-century Romanesque Revival palace built at the top of a foresty hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria. The U.S. has many glorious places, but I don't believe I've ever seen a view as spectacular as this. (Maybe it's the bratwurst talking!) Now we're being dazzled by the views from the train taking us from Munich to Vienna -- the hills are truly alive in Salzburg -- and are looking forward to a little relaxation before heading to Wimbledon on Thursday.
