Song of the Day: 'How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?' by the Bee Gees
Got a little melancholy thinking about my parents when this came on yesterday at Rite Aid. But then I spoke to them in their hotel room in New Mexico -- they had to stay another night because the city agency that picks up scattered belongings after highway accidents isn't open on weekends -- and was heartened by the resilience I heard in their voices. They're sad their SUV, RV and dream were all totaled. But they assured me they would "be OK" and that we'd all get together to visit my brother Bill's final resting place as soon as they're recovered. It may not mend a broken heart, but it's a start.
